JOHNSTON CAVE ASSOCIATES is a 18 strong, Chartered architectural practice, based near Oxford, but working on projects throughout the UK.

As architects, we strive to provide high quality service and excellence of design. We specialise in private house work and work to historic buildings. For most of our projects, these two aspects are combined. Through our commissions from individual private clients, we have gained considerable experience with the careful, sensitive design and construction of substantial buildings in established settings, more than often combined with the alteration of listed buildings and landscapes.

Working with, and in the context of, historic buildings, we have developed expertise in the integration of new designs and modern services into existing historic fabric. This includes repair, restoration and conservation work. We are very comfortable working with private clients as part of a design team with other consultants, and we are used to working with skilled, respected and specialist contractors to produce high quality work.

At JCA, we have facilities for design and construction team meetings with extensive computer based drawing and in-house printing facilities.

The team of senior and experienced architects collaborating with designers and technicians, equipped with a breadth of knowledge of traditional and contemporary construction, ensures an approach to design that can deal with the modern demands made of building in an historic context.
